KS4 Vocational Pathways

Laying the foundations for future success

Traditional education pathways aren’t for everyone. For some learners, getting practical, hands-on experience in career-focused learning is far more motivating than following the more conventional academic route offered by mainstream education. They want to learn new skills that are vocation focused.

As the workplace evolves with the rapid adoption of AI and automation, many learners understand that gaining real-life, vocational skills will help to future-proof their careers and set them up for long-term employability.

CAREER FOCUSED EDUCATION

Our vocational pathways provide a purposeful alternative for learners who benefit from practical, career-focused education - whether referred by their school or commissioned directly by a local authority for EOTAS learners. Our accredited qualifications contribute to Progress 8 for schools and support measurable EHCP outcomes for LA-commissioned placements. Our learners in these programmes are aged 14-19.

OFF-SITE SECONDARY ALTERNATIVE PROVISION

THE FORGE

The Forge is one of Nulogic’s specialist offsite vocational hub – a purposefully designed environment where young people come to learn differently, build real skills and gain industry-recognised qualifications.

Located away from a traditional school setting, The Forge offers a professional, practical space where learners are defined by what they can do, not by the difficulties they’ve faced.

For local authorities, multi-academy trusts and schools, The Forge provides a flexible, high-quality vocational placement that integrates directly alongside a young person's existing education. For learners, it’s a fresh start in a space built entirely around their potential.

Real pathways with real opportunities

To help learners on their journey to employment, we offer hands-on vocational training and careers advice and guidance that helps them to imagine future career pathways.

We believe that education shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all approach, and that:

Education should offer multiple pathways to success

Practical learning is essential for many learners

When learners see a purpose in what they’re doing, engagement increases naturally

Specialist settings

Our vocational pathways are delivered from both our specialist offsite hubs and our school inclusion bases. Our purposefully designed offsite environments provide learners with a professional, practical setting away from mainstream school. The Forge (secondary and post-16) and The Nest (primary age) offer a distinct experience that motivates learners who need a fresh start and a different kind of learning environment.

  • Our vocational approach continues into Post-16. Learners who engage with our vocational pathways at school age can progress into our Post-16 provision, which launches in September 2026. Specialist pathways, including Hair & Beauty, Construction, Sports & Leadership and Digital, all lead to accredited qualifications and clear employment routes.

  • Our vocational pathways combine practical learning with core skills and personal development to create a motivating and engaging experience for learners.

  • Balancing vocational qualifications with Maths, English and personal development, learners follow a structured timetable.

  • Through hands-on tasks, learners are given the opportunity to put their new skills into practice.

  • Developing core employability and life skills, such as teamwork, communication, leadership and problem solving, is embedded into every session.

  • Learners work towards recognised vocational qualifications that contribute to school performance measures, including Progress 8 EHCP outcomes.

  • Sessions are led by experienced staff and industry-qualified practitioners who are skilled at driving engagement and bringing learning to life.

  • As well as teaching practical skills, our programmes encourage learners to develop independence, consistency and accountability.

  • We work closely with learners to identify their goals and support them in making the next step towards further education, training or employment.
