What is fire risk assessment?

nulogic assessorFire risk assessment is defined in legislation as a ‘suitable and sufficient’ assessment of the hazards that might cause a fire and the possible harm that might result so that adequate measures to reduce the risk to an acceptable level and prevent harm can be identified and, most importantly, implemented. Who can carry out fire risk assessment?

The law requires that only ‘competent’ persons carry out fire risk assessment. In a simple building, it is possible that the owner or occupier can carry out a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risk and identify appropriate measures to control that risk, but in more complex or higher risk environments (such as blocks of flats) competence comes from relevant training, qualification and experience. The training, qualification and experience of nulogic’s assessors, particularly in social housing, gives you a solid basis for evaluating competence and relying on our assessors.

nulogic has developed rigorous processes to assure itself of the competence of its assessors and we believe that the best criteria for evaluating assessor competence are those published by the Fire Sector Federation.

Before we start work on your FRA programme, we will supply a CV for each of our assessors with evidence of qualifications, individual accreditation and their experience and continuous professional development from the last three years. We want you to be as confident about the competence of our assessors as we are.
